The referendum

13.NOV.09

Editor: Having shared with readers my critique of the proposals for the new Constitution, I must, now that the time for constructive criticism has passed, make a recommendation as to what decision to take in the referendum due shortly.{{more}}

The referendum (unfortunately) forces us to make two decisions at the same time: one about the Constitution, and the other about the CCJ.

I have always been 100% in favour of the CCJ as our Court of Final Appeal, and would very much like to see that implemented in SVG.

I am also giving the proposed Constitution a “thumbs up” on the grounds that it is home grown, and represents a political advance over that which now exists. There is room for improvement, but that will come in the future.

So, dear readers, I recommend a YES vote in the referendum.
