Have we forgotten how to love and forgive?

Editor: Let me first of all thank the Government for patching the holes in the road between Central Leeward and Kingstown. It is indeed a relief for many of us vehicle drivers.{{more}}

Have we forgotten how to love and forgive? It would seem so, because of the high rise in crimes in our nation. It would seem that we are hell bent on revenge, taking our own justice and of course dealing with anyone who crosses our path.

Many of our people do say the famous “Lord’s Prayer.” Or maybe our younger generation doesn’t say that prayer anymore. But in that prayer, we ask the Lord to forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Yet we fail to forgive.

If we would love each other and forgive each other, then our nation would be a peaceful place. If we as a people can sit down and work out our differences in a loving way, rather trying to solve a problem by violent means, then many mothers, wives and others will have restful and peaceful nights and days.

I call upon us a nation to ask God for the strength to love even those who don’t love you and forgive those who have wronged us.

May God help us to love and forgive.
