This backbiting could destroy the ‘SVG Toronto Bridge building’
Editor: The apparent glamorous and prestigious position of SVG Consul General to Toronto is the envy of many Vincentians especially those over-ambitious, under-productive Vincentian baby boomers in Toronto. To say that the position is an attractive one is a statement that is so far from the truth that it has become laughable. I ask Vincentians who believe otherwise to re-examine their mind.{{more}}
What is so attractive about a job pestered by those determined to undermine its purpose will eventually be brought to light to the community at large. Naturally, confirming a sensible rationale for appointing a man of God to the position is commendable, since such divine connection is necessary to unite our community.
The Building Bridges initiative began because of the obvious necessity for some form of intervention within our Vincentian community. Today, prior to the handover meeting with our new Consul General, the Building Bridges Committee has become more of a challenge instead of being the advocate group for nurturing unity.
The renegade portion of the group seemed to have shifted its focus to becoming another Toronto SVG group, perhaps aimed at promoting an individual determined to take over the Consul General office one day.
Even the Building Bridges committee seems to have lost its foundation with the obvious absence of a few key individuals which is blamed on the lame excuse of âa breakdown in
effective communicationâ. Such antiquated excuses were once accepted but not in todayâs advanced technological world.
While my article a few months ago âAdventist Pastor is the right choiceâ may have created some acceptance, others amongst our retired baby boomers in the Toronto community would appear to have been busy cocooning behind their cell phones, Blackberry and keyboards, drafting their blueprint for the destruction to the âSVG Toronto Bridgeâ still in construction. That, in a nutshell, is the âodeâ to the challenges of the âprestigious position of SVG Consul General to Canadaâ.
