Who is the best Agriculture Minister, Miguel or Beache?

EDITOR: I was listening to a ULP meeting sometime ago and I heard Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves’ Press Secretary, Glen Jackson introducing Minister Miguel as the ”best Minister of Agriculture” this country has ever had.

I’m still wondering what happened to Sir Vincent Beache. Our Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves on several occasions said that Sir Vincent Beache is the best, so I am wondering who’s telling the truth about who is or was the best Minister of Agriculture this country ever had. {{more}}

There is nothing I can put my hand on to say that either Minister ever did for Agriculture; don’t tell me about the Marketing Corporation or the Sugar Factory. I’m wondering what are the criteria our Prime Minister used to appoint Minister Miguel as Minister of Agriculture? Is it because she’s from Mespo, or because she is the Rose of the Valley?

Minister Miguel, as a former teacher, I have a few questions for you. Please answer them, not Mr. Daniel.

1. Do you think Agriculture should be a priority?

2. Should we urge farmers to adopt a new approach in marketing?

3. Should there be a link between agriculture and tourism? And final question:

4. Should we include agriculture on the curriculum of our Primary Schools?

For the last four (4) years I think the ULP has neglected Agriculture. The question is, why? What about the banana plan? We are still waiting for it. If the ULP ever wins the next election I’m hoping that they will show some urgency in reviving the Agriculture Sector, but as a supporter of the NDP I am making the farmers a promise that NDP will REVIVE the Agriculture Sector. IT’S THE WAY TO GO.

May God bless us all!
