Rolled ice cream business is the rave
by Grace Francis
A 27-year-old Vincentian entrepreneur has introduced what is believed to be the first rolled ice cream machine to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), adding a new and interactive style of dessert preparation to the local market. Dillon Delpelsche, a former chef, recently began operating the imported machine, which prepares ice cream on a cold steel surface before it is scraped into thin rolls and served with toppings.
The concept is now drawing attention from both locals and visitors .
In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT on Thursday, February 19, 2026, Delpelsche shared that his decision to venture into business was motivated by more than profit.
“There are people out here doing jobs that they don’t like. I’ve seen people cry because of that and I just wanted to break the cycle.”
He explained that the idea for the business came while he was in hospital for a week. During that period of illness, he reflected on his career path and future goals.
