Covid dismissed workers given deadline – backpay deferred pending review
PUBLIC SERVANTS who were dismissed for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine will not be allowed to return to their jobs after January 30, 2026. And, promised back pay for those who return is being deferred pending, further Cabinet review.
The Cabinet, in a publication on the Office of the Prime Minister’s Facebook page on January 22,2026 made that statement, pointing out also that Cabinet has provided guidance on returning to work and associated benefits.
According to the document, affected workers are required to report in person to their former ministry, department or institution where they were last assigned, or to the office of the Chief Personnel Officer, with duties resuming from December 1, 2025.
