Committee Chair opposes insertion of fetes into Nine Mornings Festival

CHAIRMAN OF the National Nine Mornings Committee, Oronde ‘Bomani’ Charles, said he will oppose any attempt to introduce fetes during the annual Nine Mornings Festival.

Charles strongly stated this position during the prize giving ceremony for the 2025 Nine Mornings activities, held last Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Peace Memorial Hall, Kingstown.

“I will not be associated with any attempt to turn Nine Mornings into one big, massive fete,” Charles made clear.

“ I think we have to strive to maintain that cultural expression that was born over a hundred and something years ago” he said.
