Bruce rubbishes ULP performance in South Central Windward
NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY (NDP) candidate for the constituency of South Central Windward, Israel Bruce has knocked the Unity Labour Party (ULP) saying the administration has failed the constituency and the rest of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
Speaking at a rally of the NDP in North Union on Saturday night, November 8, 2025, Bruce said the incumbent party has “no plans for jobs for young people” in the constituency.
“No plans for agriculture, and the farmers of this constituency,” and none either for tourism development, fisherfolk, nor for the future of South Central Windward.
“You heard insults from them, you heard jokes from them…but you do not hear a single serious policy to move South Central Windward forward.”
Bruce charged that the ruling party is tired, out of ideas and “out of touch with the reality facing the people of this country.”
Bruce, a lawyer, who served as a Opposition Senator in the last Parliament said by contrast, the NDP has a plan, a clear direction, and is willing and prepared to serve.
Outlining some of his plans for South Central Windward, Bruce said the NDP would establish a national marketing board which would place heavy emphasis on export, and provide farmers a guaranteed market and stable prices for their produce.
There are also plans to construct a community centre in Hadley’s Village and in Mt Greenan.
Bruce said the constituency of South Central Windward has enormous potential for tourism development and mentioned an eco-tourism project for Diamonds and a Zipline project in Greiggs.
The NDP candidate for the November 27, 2025 general elections said the NDP will also give duty free concession to creatives on importation of items such as computers for use in their work.
Bruce spoke as well of plans to construct a clinic in Chapmans Village, and a playing field in Greiggs.
Additionally, he has plans for road rehabilitation all across the constituency as a means of enabling farmers to have better access to their agriculture holdings.
Bruce reminded persons attending the rally that he hails from Lauders, a village in South Central Windward and he is happy for his humble upbringing.
“This constituency has shaped the person I am today,” he said at the start of his address, “I am here tonight because I owe this place everything.”
Bruce will do battle against the incumbent representative, Saboto Caesar of the ULP in the upcoming general elections.
