Methodist Church helps equip students for 2025/26 school year

SEVERAL CHILDREN in primary and secondary schools, returned to the classroom this week better prepared because of assistance provided by the Methodist Church, Kingstown- Chateaubelair Circuit. The circuit has awarded three five-year scholarships and 11 bursaries to children as part of its mission to nurture faith, support families, and help those in need. In a release, the circuit said the three scholarships of $1,500.00 each, and 11 bursaries, each for $500.00, were disbursed to students entering secondary school for the 2025/2026 academic year at a ceremony held on August 20, 2025 at the Methodist Church Hall, Kingstown. This is the seventh year of the scholarship programme which to date, has provided full scholarships to 18 students, with more than 100 receiving bursaries, enabling the transforming of lives “and opening doors of opportunity for young people”.

“The Methodist Church remains steadfast in its mission to support education, strengthen families, and equip the next generation to reach their full God-given potential,” the release also states. The church was represented at the ceremony by Circuit Superintendent and chair of the scholarship committee, Rev. Philbert Delaney,

the committee’s secretary, Irwina Phills, along with the Circuit Stewards, Dahlia- Ann Howard- Lewis, and Jasmine Huggins, as well as other members of the scholarship committee and representatives of the church.

In their remarks, church leaders expressed gratitude for the opportunity to invest in young people, while parents warmly acknowledged the circuit’s continued commitment to education and described the programme as a blessing to their families.
