Two receive 2025 Marriaqua United Friendly Society Scholarships

THE Marriaqua United Friendly Society (Bunpan) has presented its 2025 scholarships to Kayla Black and Ty Rogers to help finance their education at the secondary and tertiary levels.

The awards were presented on August 6, 2025, at the Society’s headquarters in Freeland, Marriaqua and had current scholarship holders Paula-Ann Smith, Aleah Skerritt and Steffi Stapleton as active participants.

Each scholarship recipient will receive EC$1,400 annually for seven years, covering five years of secondary education and two years of post-secondary study, with all external examination fees also paid, a release from the society states.

Kayla Black is the daughter of Lakeeshia Primus and Rohan Black of Cane End and previously attended the Marriaqua Government School. Ty Rogers is the son of Jomari and Aleasia Rogers of Upper Cane End and is a former student of the Windsor Primary School.

Seventeen other applicants were awarded one-off financial assistance of EC$150 each to help cover school expenses. Scholarships and bursaries are awarded to members or the children of members of the society.
