Police mourns passing of Corporal Bailey

The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force(RSVGPF) said it is deeply saddened by the passing of Corporal 603 Selman Bailey, who died on Saturday, August, 9, 2025.

In a statement, the RSVGPF said it extends heartfelt condolences to Bailey’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.

Corporal Bailey is said to have faithfully served the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines for almost 33 years, having enlisted in the RSVGPF on August, 11, 1992. Throughout his career, he was posted at the Calliaqua Police Station, Old Montrose Police Station, Fire Brigade, and the Traffic Department, where he devoted the majority of his service.

Colleagues remember Corporal Bailey as a dependable officer with a calm presence and a sharp sense of humour, someone who could be relied upon in the toughest situations. His easy manner and willingness to mentor younger officers left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside him, the RSVGPF stated.

As the saying goes, “When a police officer dies, a piece of every badge grows heavy”.

Corporal Bailey’s passing is felt not only by those who wore the uniform with him, but also by the many members of the public who came to know and respect him over the years.

The RSVGPF added that it stands with his loved ones in grief and gratitude, honouring the service and friendship he gave so freely. His legacy will live on in the memories of his colleagues and in the proud history of the organisation he served with dedication.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
