East St George hopeful predicts NDP victory in North Windward
New Democratic Party candidate for the East St George Constituency in the upcoming general elections, Lavern Gibson-Velox, is predicting that her counterpart in North Windward, Shevern John, will win the seat this time around. John, who was defeated by the Unity Labour Party’s Montgomery Daniel in her first try for the NDP in the 2020 polls, will be facing a newcomer this time around in Dr Grace Walters, the candidate for the ULP.
Gibson-Velox made her prediction of victory at a meeting of the NDP in Mt Bentick, Georgetown on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
“Shevern is going to win this seat,” Velox stated emphatically.
She said John is going to be successful at the polls because “she has put in the work.”
“She has done what she has to do,” Velox said, adding that the Opposition Senator is the best of the best.
“Shevern is going to take you to the next level that requires your constituency to develop.”
Speaking directly to constituents, Gibson-Velox said, “If you listen to her in parliament, you know that she is already a great representative for North Windward.”
In the upcoming general elections, it will be an all-female affair in the constituency of North Windward.
