Five students receive scholarships from Tropical Shipping

Tropical Shipping this week awarded scholarships to five students whosuccessfully gained entrance into secondary schools after completing the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA). The agency said in a release that each student received vouchers valued at EC$ $1,087.00 to assist with uniforms and books for entry into secondary school.

Island Manager of Tropical Shipping, Cedric McIntyre, is said to have spoken briefly to the students on the new chapter of their lives, stressing that every mistake is a lesson, and that every question asked is a step in the right direction. McIntyre also encouraged the students to respect their teachers, take pride in their efforts, and that the journey ahead is theirs and they should make it count.

Senior Education Officer, Mavis Joseph, speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Education, congratulated the students, and asked them to continue to work hard and make their parents proud. She also appealed to parents to continue being there for their children in a supportive role, and thanked Tropical Shipping for their continued contribution to the development of the nation’s children and the partnership with the Ministry of Education.

Parents present at the July 21, 2025 ceremony, expressed appreciation, and gave Tropical Shipping a big “thank you” for the donation, explaining that the funds received will alleviate the financial burden.

The Tropical Shipping Educational Assistance Programme falls within the company’s corporate social responsibility of which improving the quality of life of children in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is one of their initiatives.
