Police investigate fatal auto crash, and homicide
The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) said its Traffic Branch has launched an investigation into a motor vehicle collision which occurred around 7.19 p.m on Friday June, 27, 2025 that left one driver dead.
The collision of two vehicles on the tarmac of the decommissioned E.T Joshua Airport, claimed the life of Hy Ellis, a Vincentian promoter of Brighton/USA.
The police said in a release preliminary investigation indicates that motor vehicle, with registration number P-233, a blue Toyota
Vitz car, owned and driven by Christopher Richardson, a 23 year old Police recruit of Mesopotamia, and motor vehicle, with registration number P-222, a white Mercedes-Benz AMG SUV, owned and driven by Hy Ellis, formerly of Brighton/USA were travelling along the Arnos Vale Tarmac in opposite directions. P-222 was travelling north, while P-233 was heading south (towards the sea). On reaching the vicinity of the Girls High School, motor vehicle, P-222 collided with the left side of P-233. The collision caused motor vehicle P-222 to flip over several times; it landed on its roof.
Officers from the Traffic Branch were alert and later visited and processed the scene of the accident. Ellis, the driver of P-222 was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor. Officers from the Criminal Records Office (CRO) also processed the scene. The driver of P-233 complained of severe pain in the head and was transported to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for treatment. A post mortem examination is expected to be conducted on the deceased to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The police have urged that all motorists drive with due care and attention and show courtesy to all road users. The police are also investigating a homicide that occurred in Yambou also on Friday, June, 27, 2025, which claimed the life of Don Jackson, a 60-year-old farmer. The police release said that preliminary investigations revealed that at approximately 11:30 a.m. on the date in question,
Jackson’s sons were involved in a family dispute. The father reportedly intervened and was struck with an object to the side of his face. He was transported to the Levi Latham Health Center and was later pronounced deceased by a medical practitioner.
Police from the South Central Division processed the crime scene and collected exhibits of evidential value. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death. A close male relative is assisting with the investigation, and the police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in this investigation to come forward.
