Better conduct called for at VincyMas events

Patrons at the Bacchanal Bay event hosted by the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC), displayed conduct which does not sit well with CDC officials.

Patrons removed barricades, threw missiles, and involved in minor skirmishes on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at the judging for the Soca Monarch Semifinals on the tarmac of the decommissioned E.T Joshua Airport.

Back in 2022 at the Soca Monarch finals at Victoria Park, a similar situation occurred, and the reckless behaviour by patrons resulted in up to a dozen patrons having to seek medical attention at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. The injuries were reportedly as a result of bottles, aerosol cans, and other projectiles being thrown into the air.

At different instances during the Bacchanal Bay event on Sunday, patrons in the ‘Fire Zone’, an area designated for the use of firing up Baygon cans, had to be cautioned by the emcee against throwing missiles into the crowd and also displaying rowdy behaviour.

There were also incidents of patrons removing the barricades located at the front of the stage and dancing with them, forcing some patrons to relocate for fear of being struck.

Speaking at a CDC press conference on Monday, June 23, 2025, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rodney Small, made a plea for crews to display better behaviour at VincyMas events.
