NSPD welcomes CDC’s planned upgrade of Victoria Park

The National Society of Persons with DisAbilities has lauded the planned upgrade of Victoria Park, in time for VincyMas 2025.

Among the enhancements that will favour the members of the NSPD, are the designated entrance for wheelchair users, as well as an upgrade of the restrooms to accommodate persons with disability challenges.

Leading the improvements at the Victoria Park, is the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC), the statutory body charged with the responsibility to administer St Vincent and the Grenadines’ largest cultural event- VincyMas.

Reacting to the CDC’s plans, President of the NSPD, Andrea Ashers acknowledged the forward thinking of new CEO, Rodney Small.

“We at the NSPD laud the planned improvements at the Victoria Park, as it will aid our members who want to attend shows not only for Carnival and other events staged at the venue,” Ashers said.

“We appreciate that we are thought about, and our disabilities and mobility restrictions are considered in the planning of VincyMas. Kudos to all those forward-thinking persons,” Ashers added.

Whilst accepting the small steps being made that will better accommodate members of the association, Ashers said she would like to see other entities would do similarly and make their venues more “wheelchairs user friendly”.
