Man who handled stolen goods ran from the police to the police station
A man from Old Montrose who ran from the police to the police station, was fined for having handled stolen goods belonging to an American flight attendant, who brought visitors to St Vincent on a private jet.
However, when Stephenson Sam, 34, could not mobilise the portion of the fine that was to be paid immediately, he was taken away to the male penitentiary.
Sam appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Tammika McKenzie, on Thursday, May, 29, 2025 where he was fined for handling stolen goods on May 24, 2025 at Victoria Park, Kingstown.
The facts, presented in court by PC 196 Constantine are that Miller, a citizen of the USA, is a flight attendant who had brought a contingent of visitors to St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) on a private jet with the pilot and copilot.
She is the owner of one Bandolier purse valued US$120.00 containing one US Passport bearing her name; one IPhone 15 Pro Max valued US$1300.00; one Bandolier phone case valued US$112.00; one USA debit card valued US$10.00; one driver’s license valued US$15.00; one USA credit card valued US$10.00; and one vault debit card valued US$10.00.
At about 9:45 p.m on the date in question, Miller and the copilot went to an event at Victoria Park, and decided to leave around 11:30 p.m to return to the hotel where they were staying.
While she was going through the exit gate, someone approached her and pulled her purse and cellular phone from around her neck and ran.
Miller gave chase while shouting “my passport, my passport”. The thief dropped the purse and escaped with the cellular phone.
Miller took up the purse, searched it and found her passport and airport pass. She proceeded to the hotel and informed people about what had transpired.
