Overland Clinic ‘in Terrible Condition,’says Senator John
Concern has been expressed about the physical condition of the Overland Clinic which had to be moved to Magum after the 2021 volcanic eruptions. The health facility which serves communities north of the Rabacca Dry River was said to be in “a terrible condition”.
“It is so hot over there that I have to give the nurses credit for working,” Opposition Senator, Shevern John, said at a meeting of the New Democratic Party (NDP) at Overland on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
The senator said that many nurses across St Vincent and the Grenadines are working under terrible conditions and, “Right here in our communities, you going in to a doctor that is speaking Spanish”. John, who is the NDP’s candidate for North Windward, promised that the nation’s health care will be well taken care of under an NDP administration.
”We have to take health seriously,” she insisted, promising that the overall wellness of the people of the constituency will be addressed.
Among other promises made was that the NDP will build a multi-purpose sporting facility in the constituency, and ensure there is growth and continuity.
