Lodge Village plum thief to be sentenced today

A Lodge Village man charged with stealing a bucket of plums from the tree of a farmer, will be sentenced today, May 27, 2025.

Jomo Lyttle appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Tammika McKenzie, where he pleaded guilty that on May, 16, 2025, at Lodge Village he stole one bucket of plums valued at EC$80, the property of Peter Neverson of Lodge Village.

Neverson has been a farmer for at least 50 years. He cultivates a variety of provision and vegetables on a piece of land which he overlooks for one Mr Sullivan, who is currently in England.

This parcel of land is located in Lodge Village and is fenced with a concrete block wall. On the land, there are fruit trees including mangoes, breadfruit, and plums.

At about 9:10 a.m on the date in question Neverson was planting chives when he heard the sound of something dropping in a bucket.

He then observed that there was someone on the plum tree picking ripe plums. However, he could not recognize the person.
