Man accused of illegal gun and ammo possession granted $20,000 bail
A Walvaroo man who denied being in possession of one Glock pistol and 24 rounds of ammunition, was granted bail in the sum of $20,000.
Jason Richards, 33, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on December 9, 2024, before senior magistrate, Tammika Mckenzie, where he pleaded not guilty that on December 5, 2024, he had in his possession one Glock .26 pistol and 24 rounds of 9 mm ammunition without a license issued under the Firearms Act.
The painter was granted bail in the sum of $20,000 with one surety, and was given reporting conditions. Stop notices were ordered to be placed at all points of entry and exit, and Richards was ordered to surrender all travel documents. He is to request permission from the court if he desires to leave the state. The matter is adjourned to January 9, 2025, and has been transferred to the Serious Offences Court.
Richards was allegedly found with the weapons in a vehicle at Redemption Sharpes.
