CDC discussing next step for Carnival 2024 following Hurricane Beryl

Hurricane Beryl, a category four system, which passed over St Vincent and the Grenadines on Monday, July 1, has resulted in the cancellation of a number of private parties as well as festival events.
Junior Panorama scheduled for June 30 was postponed until July 4 and Junior Calypso set for July 2 was cancelled with no new date posted as yet.
Today, Wednesday, July 3, the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) posted a notice to their social media page, informing the public that discussions are currently being held with stakeholders to decide the next steps for Vincy Mas 2024.
“The Carnival Development Corporation extends its unwavering solidarity to the countless persons affected by the impact of Hurricane Beryl. The devastation across our beautiful Hairouna, especially in the Southern Grenadines is immense. Understandably, the process of rebuilding and healing will take time, but it is important to note that our resilience has brought us through many perilous times over the years and through this, our resilience will see us through again. As the organizing body for our premier National festival, Vincy Mas, we wish to advice all stakeholders that we are currently discussing the way forward as it relates to the remaining National events, which were scheduled to take place from Sunday June 30th to Tuesday July 9th, 2024. Rest assured that as soon as these discussions are complete, a decision will be communicated.”
The carnival calendar for the rest of Vincy Mas is as follows:

– July 4,  Steel and Glitter

-July 5, Evo Party

-July 6, Soca Monarch

-July 7, Calypso Finals

-July 8, Jouvert and Monday Jump Up
