Police seize gun, extended magazine and bullets at Campden Park Cargo Port

The police say they have seized a quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition at the Campden Park Port in what has been described as a strategic operation.

A release from the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), said a contingent from the Rapid Response Unit (Black Squad), conduced the raid on Tuesday, April 9,2024 as they executed a search warrant.

The items seized include one .38 special revolver and a comprehensive assortment of ammunition totalling 2,538 rounds, covering calibers such as .40mm, 9mm, .380, FN 5.7 x 28mm, and .22. ammunition.

Additionally, an extended magazine and a quantity of fireworks were also seized. This operation highlights the proactive and dedicated efforts of our specialized units in combating illegal arms trafficking, the police release further states.

It added that this successful operation reflects the RSVGPF’s strong and unwavering commitment to combating illegal arms trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of SVG.

“We remain dedicated to our mission of preventing, disrupting, and dismantling illegal activities, reinforcing our resolve to protect and serve our nation.”

The RSVGPF is also reminding the public to make use of the current gun amnesty by surrendering any illegal firearms and ammunition they may possess without facing prosecution, no questions asked. The amnesty went into effect on March 1, 2024, and will end on May 31, 2024.
