Edinboro man charged for possessing illegal gun and ammunition

A 35 year old resident of Edinboro has pleaded not guilty to being in illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Harris Grant, a labourer, appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Colin John on Tuesday April 2, 2024, where he pleaded not guilty that on April 3, 2024, in Kingstown he had in his possession one 9mm Luger Pistol without a licence issued under the Firearms Act. He was also charged for having in his possession, six rounds of 9mm ammunition without being licensed to do so.

The police said Grant was arrested about 5:15 a.m on Sunday, March 31, 2024, during an operation conducted by the police in Edinboro. He was granted bail in the sum of EC$5,000 with one surety and was ordered to report at the Central Police Station every Wednesday between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Grant was also ordered to surrender his travel documents, and notices were ordered placed at all ports of entry and exit. The matter was adjourned and transferred to the Serious Offences Court for trial on July, 7, 2024.
