Cuban president thanks SVG for Donation

President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel has thanked the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and its Prime Minister, Ralph Gonsalves for a donation of flour that they sent to Cuba.

The head of State explained on his X account that the donation will help alleviate the difficult situation in Cuba as a result of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, the Cuban publication Prensa Latina said.

On Monday March 25, 2024, Cuba’s Ambassador to St Vincent and the Grenadines, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez; the foreign minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines, Keisal Peters; and the general manager of the Eastern Caribbean Group of Companies, Robert Cato, bade farewell to the ship that is transporting 235 metric tons of flour, which is expected to arrive in the port of Mariel around the week of April, 9, 2024. Prime Minister Gonsalves had earlier announced the provision of several container loads of flour to Cuba valued at EC$700,000. He also said that Guyana and Barbados might be providing assistance as well.

St Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba have strengthened their diplomatic and bilateral ties for more than 30 years.
