Rotaract Club Kingstown and partners clean up Great Head Bay

The Rotaract Club of Kingstown, joined forces last Saturday, March 16, 2024, with other entities to undertake a clean up of Great Head Bay, Arnos Vale.

The club said in a release that the clean up coincides with its focus on the environment as one of its seven areas of concentration as it observes water, sanitation and hygiene month in March.

Joining the club in this venture were the National Parks, Rivers, and Beaches Authority; Serenity Dive SVG; the Leo Club of St Vincent; and the Rotary Club of St Vincent.

Twenty-seven volunteers took part in the clean-up effort removing such debris as tyres, plastic, and items of clothing from the beach in a reflection of the club’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community service.

“As part of Rotary’s global initiatives, addressing environmental challenges remains a key priority. By actively engaging in projects like beach clean-ups, we demonstrate our dedication to preserving natural resources and promoting a healthier planet for all,” the club’s release also said.

Further it said through such initiatives it aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the beaches and rivers for future generations.
