Opposition Leader promises to revitalise SVG’s economy
Leader of the Opposition, Dr Godwin Friday says that he knows the hardships that people in St Vincent and the Grenadines are facing; and he is promising to turn things around should the New Democratic Party (NDP) be voted into office in the next General Elections.
The NDP leader shared these and other views while speaking on the New Times programme on Monday March, 4, 2024.
“We will turn the country around,” Dr Friday promised, as he complained about economic decline in tourism and agriculture.
Claiming that “St Vincent and the Grenadines has a lot of potential,” Dr Friday also promised that his party will revitalize these two important pillars of the economy.
He charged that under the present administration “ordinary folks catching hell” in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
“We know the hardships that people are feeling,” he stressed. Commenting on development Dr Friday said that “development is about people…we can’t be spectators in our own development, we have to be doing it for ourselves,” as he promised that his party will involve people in the developmental process.
“You can’t do it for me and I am on the sideline, people have to be involved in the process,” he stressed.
The NDP is promising to rebuild and revitalize St Vincent and the Grenadines by using four economic pillars: agriculture, tourism, the blue economy and the new economy.
In doing so, Dr Friday said they will create the environment for people to better themselves.
“People must come first, development is about people, it is not about bug shining objects,” he declared.
