Pan Against Crime celebrates 16 years with concert

The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), in collaboration with the National Commission on Crime Prevention (NCCP), the Pan against Crime Committee (PAC), and the Police Band will mark the 16th anniversary of the Pan against Crime initiative with a public open air concert at South Rivers. The concert, which will take place from 5:00 p.m on March 3, at the South Rivers Playing Field, will be held under the theme- Play a Pan. Arrange a Song. Build the mind. Down with violence and crime.

The Pan Against Crime initiative was conceptualized by Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves who has ministerial responsibility for national security, and embraced by the RSVGPF.

Pan Against Crime was launched on February 20, 2008 aimed to use the steel pan instrument to engage young people to steer them away from criminal activities, a release from the police states.

During the concert, remarks will be delivered by acting Commissioner of Police, Enville Williams; Assistant Commissioner of Police,Christopher Benjamin who is also chair of the Pan against Crime Committee; as well as a representative from the SVG Police Co-operative Credit
Union. Prime Minister Gonsalves will deliver the feature address.

The event will also feature a praise and worship segment; the official launch of the Overland, Chapmans, Park Hill, and Diamonds Police Youth
Clubs; and an entertainment package involving the Police Band, Epic Sounds Steel Orchestra, Symphonix Steel Orchestra, and Shaunelle Mc Kenzie.
The police have issued an invitation to the public to attend as they celebrate the anniversary of PAC.
