Hundreds of students were recently rewarded for their performance in the May-June external examinations.

The presentation of a $500 cash award took place at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College at Villa last Friday, February, 9, 2024.

The SVG Education Media Unit said over 700 students received their cash award on Friday. Students who were unable to collect their money last week can collect the payout from today, February 13 and up to Friday February, 16, at the main building in Kingstown.

The cash award was presented to students who were successful at their subjects at both the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC), and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) levels.

The award was presented to CSEC students who passed five subjects, including English A and Mathematics at Grade 1-3.

CAPE students are required to obtain Grades 1-5 in at least two unit subjects, as well as the single unit Communication Studies in two consecutive years.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education Curtis King, has told recent recipients of the cash award that the money they received is an investment.

Speaking at last Friday’s ceremony at the SVG Community College the minister said “These awards are not mere financial incentives, they represent also the investment that our government makes in our future”.

“Each dollar bestowed upon you, is an investment in knowledge, innovation and progress.”
