Local film crew shoots another international music video
A local film crew continues to set trends and, as a result, has recorded a second music video for Warner Music Entertainment.
The video was shot in St. Vincent and the Grenadines by the local production crew for UK rapper “Ghetts”, as was done last August for United Kingdom/Vincentian rapper “Mist” (also signed to Warner Music Entertainment).
Both the Mist and Ghetts projects were produced by Vincentian film maker Aiko Roudette, and directed by one of London’s leading music video directors, Nathan James Tettey. Vincentian Cinematographer, Jason Providence was the Director of Photography on both projects.
The Ghetts video “Tumbi” was shot in five locations over two days on January 12 and 13. The local production crew was made up of Josephine DeFreitas (Stylist and Production Assistant); Javid Collins (1st AC); Virad Peters (FPV drone pilot); and Chavez Joseph (Production Assistant and Grip).
Local models Natasha Frankov, Geniene Browne, and Shadyn McLean are also featured in the video, as well as dancers Nsala Findley, Iman Ballantyne, Kevisha Greaves, Desron Lawrence, Elbert Duncan and Kendall Bailey.
Roudette said the cast and crew had a great time on the shoot.
“It’s been amazing to create another music video for Warner Music Entertainment in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. I couldn’t be prouder of our local Vincentian cast and crew who delivered very high-quality work in a very short period. We are excited to share this video with St. Vincent,” Roudette told SEARCHLIGHT.
She added “These projects bring valuable experiences to the local creative industry and help put St. Vincent on the map as a small island with big creative ability.
“The more of these projects that we successfully produce the stronger our local film making sector becomes, and the more able we are to attract more and more regional and international productions to our island. It’s all about maximising the possibilities that the film and video sector can offer to our people and our nation.”
Roudette said that these projects continue to raise the profile of St. Vincent and the Grenadines internationally, demonstrating its natural beauty and the quality of creativity and experience the people have to offer.
The “Tumbi” music video will be released on YouTube at the end of January.
Director Tettey noted that this was his second time shooting in SVG and noted that it is, “a wonderfully unique and underrated experience”.
“I’ve shot all around the globe and this country rivals anywhere I’ve ever shot, not just for the beauty within its landscape, but with the energy of its people and the skill set of the local crew.
“This country is full of unique landscapes and experiences like coastlines that look like they are from another planet (Owia), to being guided up a volcano and then finishing vibing with people in Heritage square.
“This is a blessing as a film maker. It’s a once in a lifetime experience finding that much variety and genuine soul in one place,” Tettey said.
The video shot for Mist last year is called “Pull up”, and features UK/Congolese rapper “BackRoad Gee”. It has over 216,000 views on YouTube.
