Alleged cutlass toting house breaker granted $10,000 bail

A Labourer who was charged for entering the dwelling house of a New Grounds resident while being armed with a cutlass was granted bail in the sum of $10,000.

Anthony Spencer of North Union appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Colin John on January 23, 2024, where he was charged that on January 21, 2024, he entered the dwelling house of Alban Thomas of New Grounds, and at the time had with him a weapon of offence, a cutlass.

The matter is laid indictable so Spencer was not required to enter a plea.

Prosecutor, Corlene Samuel did not object to bail.

The Senior Magistrate therefore granted Spencer bail in the sum of $10,000 with one surety. He is to have no contact with the virtual complainant. Spencer is also to report to the Colonaire Police Station every Monday between 8:00 a.m and 8:00 p.m. The matter is adjourned and transferred to the Serious Offences Court for hearing on May 22, 2024.
