Belmont main road blocked by landslide
A section of the main road in Belmont was impassable on Monday afternoon after persistent rainfall resulted in a landslide in the area.
The Roads Buildings and General Services Authority (BRAGSA) reported that the landslide blocked the road in the area of the “Look Out” on the road leading to and from Mesopotamia.
At press time on Monday night, St Vincent and the Grenadines was under a flash flood watch which has been extended until 12 noon today, Tuesday, December 19.
The country is experiencing heavy showers, periods of light rain, occasional gusty winds and isolated thunderstorms.
BRAGSA also reported a landslide in Akers on Monday.
Residents and motorists in areas prone to flooding and landslides or near rivers and streams are advised to be prepared.
