Calder Ridge man denied bail in building damage and burglary case

A Calder Ridge man who is a suspect in an ongoing investigation was denied bail after he was charged with damaging part of the roof of a building and burglarising the building.

Jason Williams appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate John Ballah on Wednesday, November 22, where he was charged that between November 17 and 18, 2023 at Kingstown, without lawful excuse, damaged part of the roof of the E. Moussa Enterprise Building valued EC$399.27, the property of Elias Moussa of Cane Garden intending to damage such property.

He was also charged that on the same date and place, he entered E. Moussa Enterprise as a trespasser and stole seven pairs of men’s slippers valued at EC$420, nine pairs of school shoes valued at EC$990, 15 men’s t-shirts valued at EC$300 and 21 pairs of men’s short pants valued at EC$420, of a total value of EC$2,130, the property of Elias Moussa of Cane Garden.

Prosecutor Corlene Samuel objected to bail because Williams is already on bail for a previous offence, and he has been identified as a suspect for another offence. Therefore granting him bail “is going to hinder investigations.”

In light of the ongoing investigations, Ballah denied bail for Williams. He was remanded in custody and will be permitted to have his bail reviewed on December 5, 2023.
