High Court trial begins for man accused of fatal sword stabbing

A Campden Park man who allegedly caused the death of his neighbour by thrusting a sword into his chest through to his back is standing trial at the High Court.

Jason Isaacs, who was 23 at the time of the offence is charged with murder in connection with the July 27, 2019 stabbing death of labourer, Michael Browne of Mahoe, Campden Park.

Browne was 36 years old when he was pronounced dead on the spot at his home.

Isaacs is being represented by Lawyer Kay Bacchus-Baptiste.

The state’s case is being led by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Karim Nelson and Maria Jackson-Richards.

The trial is being heard at High Court #1 before Justice Brian Cottle, and is expected to last one week. The crown has indicated they will call 10 witnesses.

A 12-member jury which constitutes of nine women and three men is hearing the case.
