North Windward residents hold vigil for missing boatman

Although he has not been declared dead, residents of the North Windward communities are mourning the loss of Kenson Browne.

The 25-year-old man has been missing at sea since Sunday August 13, following a boat accident.

RESIDENTS of North Windward at the Kramacou site for a prayer vigil on Monday.

Searches by the SVG Coast Guard and also by civilians have so far been futile, and there has been no sighting of Browne.

Residents of Sandy Bay, Point, Owia and Fancy came together on Monday night, to show their love for Kenson.

The boat in which he was a passenger capsized in the Kramacou area between Owia and Fancy.

Of the 18 passengers on board the boat that night, Kenson is the only one still unaccounted for.

On Monday night, Browne’s family and other villagers gathered in the Kramacou area for prayers for the missing man.

This was followed by a candlelight march from the Sandy Bay old school grounds to Kenson’s home.

As family and friends try to come to grips with what fate may have befallen Kenson, they are also planning to have a memorial service for him.

All the details have not yet been finalized, but this service is scheduled to be held on Saturday September 9.

Even as his whereabouts remain unknown, Kenson is being hailed as a hero in his community.
