First ever car show to take place in Union Island

Come Saturday August 12, Union Island is expected to host its first ever car show.

The event, dubbed Auto Show, is being organized by Kennoll Wilson of Outkast Auto Services (the only car wash on the island), and Carlus Allicott of Boney Man Garage.

Explaining the initiative, Wilson said the island has never had a car show and they thought it was a good idea to host such an event, inviting persons from mainland Saint Vincent to take part.

He said the event will start off as a fun day for children with bouncing castle, trampoline, and games, after which the car show will take place. The event is slated for 12 noon.

“We have a lot of interested people on the mainland and people are coming down for the sound off category. A few vehicles from down here will be entering as well,” said Wilson about the event that will take place at Uncle’s Recreation in Ashton, Campbell.

“We don’t have much entertainment down here. A little party now and again, Easterval, so this is a way to try to inspire the youths and give them some motivation, give them something different as there will be a category with pedal bikes and stunts and most creative bike,” Wilson said.

Categories include cleanest exterior (in and out and engine), best bike, best scooter and best rims. The sound off will have crowd pleaser, streets and test track. There are varying costs for entries in the different categories.

Sponsors include OSV, Cash Money, Hairoun, and Da Hook Up. The winners in each category will receive prizes from sponsors. Vouchers for back to school for four children will also be distributed during the fun day aspect of the event.

This is the second event being organized by the duo; back in December, 2022, they held a Lime and Drive which saw participants stopping at four different bars before a culmination on Chatham Hill.
