Bottle throwing teen back in court, this time on cocaine charge

JUST 10 DAYS after the Chief Magistrate gave a teenager a second chance by choosing not to activate a bond, the youth has found himself back before the court on a drug charge.

Nineteen year old Michael/ Olan Lyscott, of Old Montrose appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court on June 26, before Magistrate John Ballah, where he denied having in his possession 0.4 grammes of cocaine at Paul’s Avenue on June, 26.

Ballah granted the young man bail in the sum of $1,500 with one surety. Lyscott also was placed on a curfew from 6:00 p.m 6:00 a.m. His matter was adjourned and transferred to the Serious Offences Court to be heard on June 28.

On June 5, the 19 year old appeared before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne, where he pleaded guilty to wounding his 16 year old brother whom he had struck in the head with a bottle, cutting him.

At the time of committing this offence, Lyscott was on a one year bond that he thought had already expired.

Despite this, he walked out of the Serious Offences Court on June 16, having been given an opportunity to redeem himself.

The Chief Magistrate decided not to activate his bond; he was instead given a one year suspended prison sentence.
