2023 Heroes Day celebrations kick off in Fancy tomorrow

The Fancy Unity Farmers’ Cooperative, in collaboration with the North Windward Tourism Organisation, will hold their Heroes Day celebrations this Tuesday, March 14, at the Fancy Heroes Square under the theme, Rising from the ashes with Pride and Dignity’.

The all-day celebrations will feature the usual cultural presentations from the Fancy Drama Group, the Fancy Government School, the Sandy Bay Secondary School’s band, the Vikings Band and reigning Ragga and Soca Monarch- Fireman Hooper.

Thousands of patrons expected to converge on the Fancy community on Tuesday, will also partake of a variety of local foods such as doucana, cassava bread, fish broth, farine, the much sought after madungo, among other delicacies.

Also scheduled as part of the day’s activities are remarks from Area Representative, Montgomery Daniel, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Carlos James and a representative from the visiting Garifuna contingent.

One of the highlights of the day, is the honouring of the oldest woman in the community, Mrs Annie Baptiste.

The honouree has made a sterling contribution in the areas of farming, culture and history of the community.

The cultural presentation is set to get going from 2pm.
