Man on gun charges in the High Court appears in Serious Offences court on similar charges

Lowmans Leeward resident, Bally Alexander appeared in the Serious Offences Court on January 3, 2023 before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne where he pleaded not guilty to charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition

Alexander is charged that on January 2, 2023 at Lowmans Leeward he had in his possession one Ruger P95 .9mm pistol, serial number 317- 73706, without a license issued under the Firearms Act.

He is also charged that on the same date at Lowmans Leeward, he had in his possession six rounds of 9mm ammunition, without a license issued under the Firearms Act.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the two charges.

Chief Magistrate, Rechanne Browne declined to grant bail to the defendant noting that he has a matter of similar nature before the High Court which also has certain bail conditions.

Browne further noted that while the matter is still pending at the High Court, the accused is now back before another court with new gun related charges.

Alexander was remanded into custody and his matter is adjourned to January 13, 2023.
