South Rivers Methodist School receives barrel of foodstuff from abroad

The Breakfast programme at the South Rivers Methodist School was recently given a boost, when a quantity of food items were donated to the school.

The items were presented to the school on Monday, October 24 on behalf of Almira Rodgers who resides in New York.

It was handed over by her friend, Ruthlyn Brewester, who lives in St Vincent to teacher, Lenecia Browne, one of the coordinators of the school feeding program at the South Rivers Methodist school.
Principal, Sherene Wilkinson told SEARCHLIGHT, that the foodstuff donated, were contained in a barrel which Rodgers sent to the school.

She said that as a result of the timely donation, the school feeding programme which provides lunch, and the Tus-T Water Breakfast programme will be boosted.

Apart from the school feeding programme, the school provides daily breakfast for students who are in need.

“I am really thankful for these items,” the principal said.
She explained that they are now able to prepare healthier meals for their students.

Donations include different varieties of cereal.

Rodgers is originally from the community of South Rivers.
