Over 800 students to get tuition scholarships
More than 800 Vincentian students will receive tuition scholarships from the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines for the 2022/2023 academic year.
Prime mainister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves said on NBC Radio on Wednesday, August 31 that the Public Service Commission was in the process of contacting the 815 successful applicants.
Efforts are being made to get resources for “another 50 or so persons” as over 1100 applications had been received.
Gonsalves however said some of the applicants did not have admission to university, or had not supplied all the required documentation to the office of the Public Service Commission.
Awards are available for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for studies primarily at institutions within the Caribbean.
The prime minister said applicants will be studying in a wide range of fields.
Each scholarship covers the cost of tuition for one academic year, and will carry a maximum value of EC $25,000. Students pursuing studies in medicine are granted a maximum grant of EC$10,000.
More than 700 tuition scholarships were awarded in 2021.
