Thirty-five houses were damaged during adverse weather conditions which impacted St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) recently.
In the early hours of Sunday July 31, the tail end of a tropical wave passed through St Vincent and the Grenadines, leaving some damage in its path.
On Wednesday August 17, the prime minister told listeners to NBC radio that of the 35 houses that were damaged nationwide, 18 of them are on the Grenadine island of Bequia.
Also on Bequia, there was damage to seven public buildings and three businesses.
Based on preliminary assessment, Gonsalves said there was “significant damage” from the July 31 wave.
He however noted that the damage was not as overwhelming as the 2013 floods.
Cabinet will meet to find ways to best offer assistance to persons who were adversely affected by the passage of the tropical wave, the Prime Minister said.
