“TAKEYOURTIME PLEASE!”

This is the plea of Jovanie Peters, whose six year old daughter, Daecia and her seven year old niece were recently injured in a vehicular accident at Sandy Bay.

The two children were struck on Wednesday, June 8 as they attempted to cross the road to get to the Sandy Bay Government School which they attend.

Six year old Daecia sustained injuries to her forehead, chin and nose and bruises about her body, while her seven year old cousin, Kiala Osment is said to have suffered a broken left leg and left arm.

Peters said while her daughter seems to be recovering well, seven year old Kiali is in constant pain.

“She keeps crying for plenty pain,” Peters told SEARCHLIGHT on Saturday, June 18, as she appealed to drivers to exercise caution when approaching a school zone.

“School areas are usually very busy on mornings and after school…so just take your time.

“You have to look out for the children too,” the mother said.

The children were struck by the vehicle after they alighted from a van. They reportedly went behind the van to cross over to their school and were allegedly struck as they approached the school gate.
