Magical makes appeal for violence free Vincymas
Reigning Soca Monarch, Derron ‘Magikal’ Rouse is appealing to the public to strive for a safe and violence free Vincymas 2022.
“No fighting nobody, robbing nobody, none of them things. Let’s avoid all that by any means. This year 2022 and beyond, let’s cut the violence from the carnival and have clean fun,” the ‘Wah Deh’ singer said in a recent interview with SEARCHLIGHT.
This is the first time since 2019 that St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is poised to stage the festival, and without the restrictions of COVID-19 gathering protocols, which were repealed in April.
Rouse said it can be expected that there will be an influx of persons into the country specifically to participate in this year’s national carnival activities which run from June, 24-July,5.
And, he noted that promoters often invest a significant amount of funds into hosting proper productions throughout the season.
“So for you, as an individual to come and get into fighting, mash up a whole event, the promoters lose the most. So let’s try to have a proper carnival. We are the land of the blessed, so let’s have a nice, peaceful carnival where everyone can enjoy themselves. Come safe, reach home safe by the grace of God,” the soca artiste said.
Rouse is poised to defend his crown at the Soca Monarch competition on July,2 where he expects to meet fierce competition from the artistes hoping to dethrone the first-time Soca Monarch winner.
