Two women drown three months apart off Mustique

On Christmas Day 2021 an elderly woman drowned on the Grenadine Island of Mustique, the second elderly drowning death in three months.

News report are that Eva Lundin, 88, the widow of Lundin Group Founder Adolf Lundin, died on Christmas Day after being involved in an accident on the island.

Another elderly woman drowned around September 29 while bathing in shallow waters on Lovell’s Village Beach. Family members claim the water did not reach past her knee.

While media reports said Lundin died after being involved in an accident, the nature of the accident was not reported but SEARCHLIGHT was informed that Lundin died after she encountered difficulties while swimming in Lagoon Bay.

“It is with great sorrow that we are obliged to inform that our mother, Eva Lundin, died on Dec. 25, 2021, after being in an accident on the island Mustique in St Vincent and the Grenadines,” a statement from the family read.

The Lundin Group consists of 10 companies within commodities, the largest of which is Lundin Mining and oil outfit Lundin Energy.
Lundin was somewhat engaged in the company but played no formal role in the family-owned oil business. She spent her last 55 years living in Switzerland but owned the Villa Alumbrera on Mustique.

Her husband Adolf Lundin died in 2006.
