Barrel concessions begin November 8

Vincentians expecting barrels for the upcoming Christmas season will benefit from duty free concessions, as they have done for over two decades.

Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves announced the usual Christmas barrel concession during his virtual Independence address on Wednesday.
He said the concession is set to begin on November 8 and end on December 31.

In previous years, well over 10,000 barrels and packages have come into this country under this programme.

And through the government’s relief efforts due to the coronavirus pandemic and the recent explosive eruptions of La Soufriere, Vincentians have also benefited from an extended period of concessions on barrels coming into St Vincent and the Grenadines.

According to Gonsalves, over 50,000 barrels were granted concessions between May 2020 and October 2021.
