Police investigating shooting death of Richmond resident

Saville ‘Messi’ Murray, a farmer /block maker of Richmond and the brother of Chateaubelair District Medical Officer, Dr Francis Murray, was found dead yesterday in Fitz Hughes.

A release from Police Public Relations Department said the police were alerted at 5:20 am about what appeared to be a lifeless body lying on the ground in Golden Vale, Fitzhughes.

When authorities visited the scene, it was discovered that Saville’s body had multiple gunshot wounds.

Though the motive for the shooting is unknown, SEARCHLIGHT was informed that a resident of Golden Vale heard gunshots coming from the area where the body was discovered around 3am.

It is also said that Saville was found with one shoe on his foot, and his phone some yards away from his body.

The 28 year old was pronounced dead by Dr Yaphet Shoy, the District Medical Officer from the Pembroke District, as his brother, Dr Murray was unable to do so.

A post mortem examination will be conducted on the body to ascertain the exact cause of death.

The police is appealing to anyone with information that can assist with the investigation to contact the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of Crimes at 1-784-456-1339, the Commander of the North Western Division at 1-784-458-2229 or any police station or police officer with whom you are comfortable, and assures that all information would be treated confidentially.
