Cops transferred amidst investigation

TEN MEMBERS of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) were on Friday, June 4 transferred from the Georgetown Police Station to six other police stations.

The transfers took effect last Friday, the same day that Commissioner of Police Colin John ordered an investigation into the disappearance of firearms and ammunition from the armoury at the Georgetown Police Station.

A release from the Police said the investigation, which is being carried out by the Major Crimes Unit, was ordered immediately after it was discovered that arms and ammunition had gone missing.

Commissioner John, when contacted by SEARCHLIGHT yesterday, confirmed that the transfers of the police officers were related to the investigation.

The transferred police officers, who range in rank from sergeant to constable, have been transferred to the Calliaqua, Chateaubelair, Vermont, Stubbs, Central and Barrouallie police stations with five of them being reassigned to Calliaqua.
