Three Covid-19 positive persons seriously ill – CMO

Of the active Covid-19 cases in St Vincent and the Grenadines, three persons are seriously ill.

“We have two persons who have Covid related pneumonias, and one person who has had what we concluded is a cerebrovascular accident, which is a stroke,” Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Simone Keizer-Beache revealed in a virtual press conference on Wednesday, January 13.

Six persons have been admitted for care, while the number of active cases has risen to 234.

Dr Keizer-Beache noted that some of the ill persons have pre-existing conditions, which makes them more vulnerable to the effects of the virus.

Four of the six persons admitted for care are at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

Eighteen persons have been admitted to the Argyle Isolation Facility, but only a few of these persons are classified as having serious symptoms.

“The other persons are there because it was determined they did not have adequate home isolation facilities,” she stated.
