The police think they’ve caught two young men responsible for serial livestock thievery in the Central Leeward area.

Declon Lynch, 28 years of Old Montrose, already admitted his guilt to four different charges when he appeared before the Serious Offences Court last Tuesday, November 5.

He admitted to stealing, between November 2 and 3, one black and brown ewe sheep, valued $350, the property of Gilroy Oliver of Wallilabou. He also admitted to stealing, from Peter’s Hope, between the same dates, a white ewe sheep valued at $400EC belonging to Silvan Solomon of Barrouallie.

Further, the 28-year-old will be sentenced for the theft of one brown ewe goat worth EC$250, the property of Renold Toussaint of Wallilabou. This too, was committed between November 2 and 3.

However, while Lynch pleaded guilty to these, Imanuel Cyrus, 31 of Largo Heights, charged alongside him, maintained his innocence to the charges.

Further, Cyrus pleaded not guilty to a charge of, on November 3, in Barrouallie, conspiring to commit the offence of theft, to which Lynch had pleaded guilty.

The prosecution, led by Senior Prosecutor Adolphus Delplesche indicated that they intended to proceed with the charges against Cyrus. He requested that the matter be dealt with this week, as it will be a short matter.

However, in the interim, he put forward no objection to their bail.

Therefore, Cyrus and Lynch were given bail in the sum of $4000, with one surety each. They were given reporting conditions twice weekly to the police station in their district, and placed on a curfew.

The trial was slated for Tuesday, November 12 but the prosecution requested an adjournment.

Therefore, the men will instead have to wait until December 10 for their matters to be ventilated. Until this time the two remain on bail.
