The results of the post mortem on the body of the 34-year-old man found in a dump in Union Island last week have apparently returned inconclusive.

A source with knowledge of the investigation told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday that the body of Antonio “Toni” Alexander was in an advanced state of decomposition, and as such a cause of death could not be determined.

This post mortem was carried out on the mainland last Thursday morning after the body was transported on Wednesday.

Alexander’s brother Alvard Alexander, speaking to SEARCHLIGHT last week, informed that his brother was working in Palm Island on Friday, July 5, and then they saw him at around 6:50pm for the last time. When it became apparent that Antonio was missing, they searched for him, finding the body in a dump just after four on the following Tuesday, in Clifton, Union Island.

“It have to be somebody who kill him, because the way how they meet him in the garbage heap, in the bush, somebody have to kill him and carry him in dey,” Alvard had commented last week.

The matter had affected the family greatly, Alvard noting, “These things here normally don’t happen in Union Island, and it getting, Union Island getting different.”
